Why Netflix is probably better than DSTV

I was watching a movie on Netflix while my DSTV decoder was powered off when I decided to write a post about why Netflix is better than DSTV at least for a couple of reasons but I'm not talking in totality. It is still an arguable issue when it comes to talking about both pay tv services which are now available in Nigeria.

While DSTV came first, Netflix came afterwards but I'm beginining to like Netflix more than DSTV over a couple of reasons why I'm going to list below.

Reasons:

1. No adverts: I love Netflix more than DSTV because of the fact that you don't get to see adverts interrupting your entertainment. It can be annoying and time consuming when watching something on DSTV and adverts pop up many times over. With Netflix it's advert free and time saving to watch a movie or tv series.

2. Pausing is allowed: You can pause what you are watching on Netflix even with your phone while you go and do other things you need to do like washing, cleaning or picking up something and return to play it. It's a bit limited with DSTV as it's only available to higher paying customers. With Netflix, any customer can pause and play.

3. Continuity is allowed: If you are watching a movie or series on Netflix and later stops for any particular reason such as during a power cut or the need to do something else, you can always continue from where you last stopped with Netflix as they keep a personal history of the timeline you last stopped watching so it doesn't have to start all over again. With DSTV, this is rarely available. They do have a service though called catch up where you can re-watch certain movies or video scenes but the features are more limited than Netflix.

4. Watch TV at your own time and repeatedly: On Netflix, you can watch a lot of movies or TV series any time you want and even repeat watching them. With DSTV, there is a strict time frame for all that and you miss out if you are late. You also don't get to easily re-watch any movie that you missed unlike Netflix where there is nothing to miss.you are more likely going to watch more movies and series on Netflix than on DSTV because you'd see no adverts, no need for premium subscription and no weather disruption

5 Not affected by weather: I remember many times my viewing has been disrupted on DSTV because of the weather while Netflix stays up. Netflix is less likely to be more available to watch than DSTV no matter the weather.

I'm not saying that Netflix is better than DSTV in all ways but the above things I listed are some advantages I think Netflix has over DSTV.
