When your car is neither black nor white, it can be real tricky getting to know what the specific colour of your car really is. Imagine that you had a car that looked brown but again it looked like copper and then tan but still didn't know what the official colour is and want to buy a car paint to cover up some scratches or repaint a section. Well, one smart way to find out your car colour is to check the specifications that came with your car.

If your car still has the original colour it was manufactured in, the ideal way to find the exact colour code is to check the code printed on the driver's door jamb when you open it. You should see a code printed like this: C/TR: 1D4/FH13 and 1D4 would be the color code. You can then use that colour code to check the exact colour in words from a colour code translation website or resource such as http://www.automotivetouchup.com/touch-up-paint/toyota/2006/all-models. I used that when checking for the colour code of my Toyota car and found out it was officially "Desert Sand Mica".

Why did I bother finding out the colour of my car since I could just say it's brown? Well, because I wanted to buy a Touch-Up Paint by Dupli-Color from Amazon. It's basically a car paint repair tool that allows one to fix small scratches on his vehicle without the need for a full body paint. If you didn't know the exact color of your car, you may end up using the wrong colour on your vehicle and hence making the overall colour look a bit off the original.

So, when next you are not sure about the colour of your car or you want to buy a car paint, do a bit of research first using the specs that came with your car so that you don't end up using the wrong car paint.
