I just received a note from my local Postal Service - NIPOST informing me that I have a packaged to collect at their office.This is the second time I've received a package from Aliexpress and I have to say this was faster than the first time. Since I preferred to go for free shipping to Nigeria and not DHL or other expensive courier, it took some time, about 3 weeks to get to my Nigerian post office but I didn't mind, since I wasn't in a hurry and didn't want to pay for shipping.Shopping on global shopping websites like Aliexpress is what I live doing when I want to buy that particular product that I need and find it hard getting it in Nigeria. Most Nigerians now travel to China for business which is mostly related to importation of manufactured products. China is the big seller now for most consumers in Africa of which Nigeria seems to be in the lead.I also do shop on websites like Amazon US and eBay from time to time but so far, shopping on Aliexpress really saves me more money.One problem I've been having with shopping on Amazon US and eBay is that they don't ship most items to Nigeria directly and for that, I also have to pay for a US shipping agent to get items to me her in Nigeria through DHL which is a bit expensive. With Aliexpress, most sellers are already providing free shipping to Nigeria as long as they can wait for the item to be sent through normal slow postal mail. It was sent through China post mail which also connected with Nigeria's NIPOST.Aliexpress connects global buyers to the Chinese market and they host a very wide variety of sellers who offer lots of products for a really affordable price. One would even be surprised that most of the electronics been sold on Amazon US are actually produced in China and one can even find some of them listed for cheaper on Aliexpress.com.I am not kidding because I recently checked out a Portable battery power pack on Amazon and it was sold at about $25 but when I checked for the same model on Aliexpress, it was listed at around $18. Besides, that price also included the cost of mailing it to Nigeria, even if it won't be so fast as Amazon's delivery. Infact, I guess for people in Africa or who don't reside in the US or close to it, it won't really make sense buying on Amazon.com what you can buy on Aliexpress.com for cheaper and more especially if it was made in China.If one were buying branded goods that were actually made in the USA, Amazon remains one of the best places to go to shop directly. So, I recently ordered for a sample of an electronic product on Aliexpress and it similar to something I've also bought on Amazon a few weeks ago. It took about 3 weeks for it to be mailed to Nigeria through the postal system.Aliexpress.com allows Nigerian buyers to shop online and even has an automatic web platform that displays products that can actually be shipped to one's country and this also included shipping cost. What Aliexpres does it that when you search for a particular product, they'd list to you all those products that can be shipped to your shipping destination and also offer you other shipping options besides the free shipping it comes with if you use slow mail service. You can decide to use DHL to ship it faster to you but it would bost you more. So, I guess, Aliexpress slow shipping is good for people who want to save money on shipping by opting to receive it in about a month's time or more.I didn't need the product in a hurry but since it's a regular electronic part we normally use at our office, I had to just order for it in advance. The cost of getting the item in Nigeria was really expensive and so it made sense to just buy it on Aliexpress.There are truly many local online shopping websites in Nigeria but they are practically incomparable to sites like Aliexpress in terms of their market value as well as the wide variety of products you can find on them. Most Nigerian websites just focus on selling little things like clothes, shoes, food and computers but on Aliexpress, you can find a lot of other things such as home accessories, car accessories, bathroom fittings, building material, interior decoration, jewelleries and so on.Anyway, I had been Googling for the product for a while and since I wasn't able to find it available at any Nigerian website, I had to just order for it at Aliexpress and paid with my Zenith bank's prepaid USD Visa card.Aliexpress accepted my payment and I got a debit alert by sms. The seller then shipped it quickly to me though China post mail and I got a tracking number which I was also able to use to track it Singapore Post mail and noted when it arrived Nigeria. It arrived within 3 weeks and I got a printed notification from NIPOST that I have a parcel waiting for collection.The next step to collecting my parcel at NIPOST would be going with my ID card and the Note they gave me which also contained my tracking number. I would have to show my ID and the note as proof to the storekeeper who will then ask me to sign for the collection and then receive my package.This is not the first time I've collected a parcel from NIPOST and I'm glad that they are working efficiently now although I don't remember when last I sent a written letter by mail now that we make use of e-mail services. There are no hidden charges for collecting your parcel at NIPOST unless you just want to be charitable to them when they smile at you.So, I think most Nigerian shoppers who buy items on retail can actually save money when they shop on Aliexpress.com. It's a website that connects the world to merchants in China and believe me, they do offer one of the lowest prices.

You can track for the current location of your package using the tracking number in your order. If it has not been delivered to you within the stipulated delivery period, you can contact Aliexpress and ask for a refund

I use my own adress as delivery address but it will first be sent to NIPOST who will then notify you with a slip containing the item's tracking number when your package is ready for collection.

If the tracking indicates that it has arrived at the Local govt close to that office, then it should be with them

The attendant will most likely charge you at an average of 500 Naira per package. Quite annoying but this is Nigeria; corruption is embedded in us. I only console myself with the fact that my long awaited parcel arrived which is such a great feeling. Lol

If the package is already in Nigeria and has arrived at the closest NIPOST office, then you'd know that it has arrived. You can decide to wait about a week to receive your invitation note before going to the or go to the NIPOST office to collect it. They don't deliver Aliexpress packages to your address, you will have to pick it up at the NIPOST office

Also, you are only meant to go to NIPOST to collect your package after they've notified you with the tracking number in a note.

Well, you can use the tracking number to know when it has arrived and then go to the postal office with your ID card to claim it.

Until it tells you the current item is in Nigeria, then you'll know. You can also confirm it has actually arrived Nigeria by using the tracking code on NIPOST website.

If the results show up, it will indicate which post office it is currently available at.

If you did not receive your item from Aliexpress within the protection period, then you should file a dispute with Aliexpress so that they'll refund your money.

3: How to file for refund if they fail to deliver ur goods, process n how long it wil take to get your money back?
