If you intend doing online shopping on US websites from Nigeria, one of the things I normally recommend is to get a US IP address as using a Nigerian IP on eBay for now is a No No as your account could get blocked. For now, eBay doesn't accept Nigerian buyers but it does accept Nigerians who are resident in the USA or other eBay supported countries. They also do not ship to Nigeria for now even though Paypal recently opened there. Again, eBay mostly ships only to US addresses and that's why you also need to have US shipping address when shopping on eBay.com.

I just ordered for a Toshiba laptop from Nigeria and it's already shipped. I expect it to be shipped to Nigeria from my US mail forwarding service since I'm not in the USA as at now. If you live in the USA, but traveled to Nigeria, you could still shop on eBay without being blocked by just making use of 2 important things: Dedicated US IP account and a US mail forwarding service.

Anyway, this is not the first I'm buying laptops on eBay from Nigeria but I'm deciding to share this with online shoppers who might want to keep shopping on US websites from outside the USA even if they were located in an restricted country like Nigeria.

I was basically looking for an affordable laptop and didn't mind even if it was used. Buying a used laptop in Nigeria can at times cost more that what you'd get on eBay and it might at times also have a disappointing performance. Besides, brands like Dell, Toshiba, Sony or HP cost more than what they are sold on eBay and you'd find it's mostly Chinese laptops that are cheapest.

I ordered for the laptop on eBay after finding it costs just under $70 and paid with my US Paypal account. The seller already received payment and decided to ship it immediately to my US address. It's gonna take about 2 working days to get there and from there I'll be able to ship it to Nigeria in as little as 5 working days using an international courier service like DHL or Fedex.

I'll also have to pay for the shipping service to Nigeria and this might cost an additional $70 or so to get to Nigeria. Once it ships to my Nigerian address, I'll be able to track it online using the provided tracking number until it gets to my doorstep.

That's about all it takes to shop on US shopping websites from countries that are restricted based on their IP or shipping address.

You can shop on eBay from countries like Nigeria but don't try to scam the seller. Pay the right fees and subscribe to a shipping service that works for you.

Things I recommenend:
======
1. Dedicated US IP account
2. US mail forwarding serivce

If I wanted a China laptop, I would have bought it from Aliexpress or Miniinthebox. The laptop is a used Toshiba Satellite M115 S3094 laptop. I think I got it at a good price. For you to shop on eBay.com, you need to have a US Paypal account or make use of a US Personal shopping service provider.

And is their categories of good you can have delivered to your doorsteps?

Thanks

No, NIPOST doesn't deliver Aliexpress parcels to your doorstep. You will need to go and pick it up with some form of documentation.

For a Nigerian shopper, Aliexpress is cheaper but there are a lot of things you will find on eBay that you won't find on Aliexpress.

I want to buy a set of rear back shock absorber for my c240 4matic Benz from eBay.I have a little challenge, I do like to know if all items on eBay is for auction. if so it definitely makes buying somewhat difficult. can u as well help me with ways of purchasing heavy spare parts that can reduce cost, since most agents charge per kg.
thanks.

Not all items are on auction on ebay as there are also items you can buy immediately. If you want to buy immediately, just search for the ones that are buy now items. You can also buy spare sites on websites like Aliexpress and Amazon. The best way I know you can minimize shipping cost is by buying more items so that the shipping cost is shared among several items. So rather than buy 1kg, you can buy 10kg or more. You can also choose to minimize shipping cost by buying straight from Aliexpress as they normally ship by NIPOST.
